12 Principals Honored at Distinguished Principals Banquet
On Saturday evening, March 12, 2011, the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals (MAESP) hosted its 22nd annual Distinguished Principals' Banquet to recognize outstanding elementary principals for their achievements and to honor the importance of the role of the elementary principal in achieving quality education. This special event was held at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach and served as the prelude to the 2011 MAESP Spring Conference.
Criteria for selection of the principals, set by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the U.S. Department of Education, require that the honorees be selected by their colleagues for achievements above and beyond those expected in a school program. In addition, each must have completed five years as a principal when nominated; maintained high expectations of students and staff; show evidence of outstanding contributions to school and profession; and be an established, respected member of the community.
Elementary principals honored at the March 12 banquet were: Mary Young, Clinton Intermediate School, Central District; Chris Daniels, Chouteau Elementary School, Clay-Platte District; Sandra Dickerson, Robinson Elementary, Kansas City Suburban District; Kim Bequette, Grandview R-2 Elementary, Jefferson County District; Kristi Shinn, Main Street Elementary, Northeast District; Chauncey Rardon, Lathrop Elementary, Northwest District; Lacey Adams, Noyes Elementary, St. Joseph District; Diane Metz, Babler Elementary, St. Louis Suburban District; Sonya Campbell, Wood Elementary, South Central District; Kent Luke, Malden Elementary, Southeast District; Pat Sutherland, Helen Mathews Elementary, Southwest District; and David Martin, Rountree Elementary, Springfield District.
The purpose and goal of the Missouri Distinguished Principals Program is to recognize outstanding principals in our state. MAESP and the State of Missouri congratulate you for your outstanding service to our students!
